There is no box

At some point in our lives, we're told to "think outside the box." This has been my bread and butter since I entered the IT field all those years ago. I would crawl into the box, see what all there is to see, then get out of the box and expand upon it. The struggles come from knowing when to leave the box, and when you need some more time to analyze the corner you've been staring at for the last hour. When I fully understand the construction and makeup of the box, I tend to get inventive and creative with all the things I can do with the box. Today, it might be a race car. Tomorrow, it might be a rocket ship. The day after that may be a pirate ship. The possibilities are limitless.

Right now, I'm still analyzing the box. Is the box waterproof? What are the tensile limitations of this box? There are times I stare at the box and wonder what color it is. I know there are possibilities awaiting me out there, but I feel like I don't know enough about this box to leave it and soar with the tools I've learned. I know I have a race car, but what type? F1? Stock car? Rally car? More details are needed. I have a pirate ship, but how many canons does it have along each side? Can I have more? Do I have too many? Until I feel comfortable with the box, I won't be able to fly my flag and set sails.
